ABOUT ENLIGHT
Enlight began as a way to address the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic on young student learning. For a year and a half, education was put on the back burner for many low-income and minority communities to prioritize basic necessities. According to the New York Times, "As the pandemic took hold, more than 1 million children did not enroll in local schools. Many of them were the most vulnerable: 5-year-olds in low-income neighborhoods." We knew we needed to address the dire issue.
This is why we at Enlight are offering free-to-family tutoring for students starting kindergarten to 5th grade. We believe early education is essential to a person's future. Elementary schooling sets the foundation for basic skills, good work habits, and healthy relationship with learning that will aid them in their throughout their lives.
Our innovative tutoring program places a special emphasis on supporting English language learners while also extending its reach to accommodate low-income households. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by individuals acquiring English as a second language, our program is tailored to foster linguistic proficiency through personalized guidance and culturally sensitive approaches. Our dedicated tutors are not only adept in language instruction but also committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Our services for low-income households aim to bridge educational gaps and provide valuable resources to those facing economic barriers. Through this dual-focused initiative, our tutoring program seeks to empower learners from diverse backgrounds, fostering academic growth and linguistic proficiency in an inclusive and equitable manner.
